All of our items are sewn with a Brother CS6000 sewing machine. Appliques are also done on this machine. I do not use a fancy embroidery machine, so appliques are very time consuming. All items are straight stitched or zig zag stitched, depending on fabric, and top stitched for added durability. Seams are also serged with my Singer Ultralock serger. This means no loose strings or fraying fabric. When you purchase an item from us, it is durable and will last you many, many moons. Fabric is always prewashed to avoid bleeding and shrinking. My dyed fabrics have all been dyed using rock salt (not just for melting ice!) and a sweet low immersion dye I have found. They are dyed, rinsed, and hung on the line to dry. I then repeat the process to ensure a color that will not fade or bleed. If I am using hemp, chances are I am dying the fabric myself. Appliques are first cut out, glued down, and dried for an hour before stitching. I then sew a tight zig zag stitch all the way around the applique, as well as add stitches inside for detail. Sometimes, my husband uses fabric paints for shading and detail work.. it just depends on the intricacy of the applique. As for our purpose behind Blessed Moon Creations.. I love sewing. It is a meditation to me. Creating in general has always been a form of stress relief. I love making a beautiful piece of clothing from pieces of fabric. And as for the applique work.. I can make a sweet piece of art work from scraps of fabrics. I want to create art work.. but not just art work that you buy, take home, and hang on your walls. I want you to wear it and show the world. I want our pieces to represent you.. body, mind, and soul. Cortney & Jason
